Christian Dior 1956 strapless silk-taffeta dress

This black Christian Dior cocktail dress is part of William Vintage's selection for MATCHESFASHION. It was crafted in 1956, a little over ten years after the French designer launched his eponymous couture house with the Corolle line – more widely known as the New Look – and a year before he passed away at the age of 52. Sculpted from feather-weight silk taffeta, it has a peaked strapless neckline supported by internal boning, crossover and pleated bands that accentuate the waist and a full skirt, a softer version of the house's signature silhouette. Embellished earrings and heeled sandals will serve as sublime complements to this elegant style.

It's part of the SS20 runway show – where it's styled with a matching tie, trousers and coat – and made from wool jacquard with a mirroring black-satin lining and multiple pockets.

Inez puff-sleeve cotton broderie-anglaise blouse

It's made in Portugal from cotton broderie anglaise with a scallop-trimmed square neckline and puffed sleeves, then fastens with a covered-button placket. Seize the flattering silhouette by partnering it with a high-rise skirt.
